Community Pharmacies are offering a new service that allows you to obtain the oral contraceptive pill directly from a pharmacy. This is called the Pharmacy Contraceptive Service.
Through this service, pharmacies can provide the contraceptive pill free of charge, as well as review and renew your prescription. This means you may no longer need to see a GP or nurse to start or continue taking the contraceptive pill.
The service is designed to make accessing contraception more convenient and easier for you, while also helping to reduce demand on GP and nurse appointments.
How to access the service if you take the contraceptive pill
When you next need to order your contraceptive pill, please contact a participating pharmacy. The service is available through both local and online pharmacies and is fully funded by the NHS.

The pharmacist will ask you some questions about your health and contraception. If there are no concerns, they will be able to issue your contraceptive prescription.
Please note
If you take the contraceptive pill for a reason other than contraception, you will need to continue ordering your medication from us, as pharmacies can only provide this service when the pill is being used for contraception.
